Here’s my unboxing and HONEST review of the Shure SRH940 Headphones!
If you’re looking for headphones with superior sound, the Shure SRH940 headphones deliver exactly that. Designed for critical listening, studio monitoring and mastering, these headphones are like having a magnifying glass for sound. They deliver accurate response across the entire audio spectrum for smooth high-end extension with super tight bass. The transient response provides minimal distortion that can easily be worn for long periods of time thanks to the luxurious velvet padding.
Some notable features of this Shure headphones model include:
- accurate frequency response
- a closed back design for comfort and reduced background noise
- a bayonet clip which securely locks the wire into the ear cup
- lightweight ergonomic fit with premium padded headband
- collapsible design with 90-degree swivel ear cups
Of course the company Shure has been around for a long time and has an industry standard reputation for legendary quality.
After listening to Finesse I went on to listen to a bunch of different styles of music, especially of songs that I know very well. I listened to some classical music and heard another dimension of the headphones that had tremendous depth and warmth. It felt like I was actually in the room when the recording was being made! The most surprising thing about these Shure headphones is that when I listen to recordings that I know very well, I notice a lot of new things that I’ve never heard before! To me that is super cool and totally gives new life to my favorite songs!
So far I’ve mentioned a lot of positives but there is one draw back in my opinion and other people seem to agree from the reviews I’ve read online. For the size, they actually feel pleasantly lighter than you might expect. But to achieve this light weight design, the construction is not as sturdy as I’d like and I feel like they need to be handled with care.
I definitely would not put these in a recording studio to withstand the wear and tear of session musicians. But for personal use, if you want the highest quality audio experience possible and are prepared to treat them like the delicate treasure that they are, I highly recommend them.
